HB77 is now pre-filed as HB44

HB77 from the last legislative session has been prefiled for the 2014 regular session of the NM Legislature by Representative Miguel Garcia, the man who sponsored it last year.

It is now HB44!

As 2014 is an even numbered year, our legislative session is only 30 days long.  It will begin on January 21 and end on February 20.  Being only a 30 day session, all bills not messaged by Governor Martinez must be budgetary in nature.  So if the Governor does not ask for this bill, it should not be an issue during this session.

So please let the Governor know how you feel.  Here is the way to contact Governor Martinez:

The Governor's contact info is (505) 476-2200 and ask for Constituent Services, or email her at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

NMGOA is supporting the PST Rally

You are invited to the 2014 Roundhouse Rally.  The New Mexico Patriot Support Team (PST) will host a different type of Roundhouse Rally this year.  Instead of having a rally outside of the Roundhouse in the morning on the first day of the session with few legislators attending and freezing our hinnies off, the 2014 Roundhouse Rally will be:

·         1:00-5:00 p.m.
·         Inside the Roundhouse, starting and ending in Room 305

1:05          Americans for Prosperity
1:15          New Mexico Business Coalition
1:30          New Mexico Gun Owners Association - HB44 and other items

Banning firearms in the capitol building

There have been two resolutions introduced that would change the rules of the Senate and House to disallow entry into the capitol building of anyone carrying a firearm except for law enforcement officers.  This includes both open and concealed carry.  They are Senate Resolution 1 and House Resolution 3.  SR1 was tabled in committee yesterday.  HR3 was amended to allow concealed carry by those who are license to do so, and then passed on a party line vote out of the committee.  It is now in the House Rules committee just like HB44.

Click the link below to send an email to all the members of the House Rules Committee.  I am hopeful that we can get this adjusted for HR3 also.
