Gun Safety and Gun Violence Panel Discussion

Rio Rancho - New Mexico Gun Owners Association's Executive Director, Aaron Lee, participated in a Gun Safety and Gun Violence Panel Discussion at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The pastor, Sharon Littrell invited us to participate along with Anita Amstutz, Pastor of the Mennonite Church of Albuquerque and Charles Bennett, Attorney with The Widener Law Firm.  The discussion was held on April 23, 2013, and was moderated by Shawn Gay, Physicist at Metatech Corporation and member of the congregation at St. Paul's.  NMGOA was grateful to be able to participate and represent the gun owners of the state in a constructive and positive way.  For those that may be interested in hearing the discussion, there was an audio recording made and is available here.  If you must comment on the recording, please keep them civil and constructive.  Aaron could say 'um' less, and that it would be an improvement on his part.

Once again, we would like to thank the congregation and community of Rio Rancho for the invitation, the hospitality, and of course the conversation.

Four Corners Private Gun Swap

For those of you in the Four Corners area, here is an event that you may be interested in:

Santa Fe Magazine Ban

Gun owners across the state and around the country, should be aware that this bill would affect you when travelling through or visiting Santa Fe.  Rallies, meetings with legislators, and other governmental interaction with our state capitol could make you a criminal if you forget to take your spare magazine out of your vehicle while in the state capitol.

You should also know that this will likely not stand up to a trial because of the state preemption of all local laws concerning the regulation of firearms ownership and carrying.  A magazine is an integral part of most modern firearms and most of them come from the factory with either one or two "hi capacity ammunition feeding devices."

The Santa Fe city council will be meeting on June 26 at 7:00pm at the city council chambers at 200 Lincoln Ave. in Santa Fe.  I would encourage all of those who so desire to attend the meeting.  Aaron Lee, Executive Director of the NMGOA will be present along with a number of NMGOA members to let these city councilors know that NO means NO and we will not give up ONE MORE INCH of our freedoms as New Mexico citizens.

Articles and more information can be found below.  There is a petition against this bill here.
